I would recommend considering carefully if you want to go with the C++ route at all and if using Python and ReaScript would be enough for what you want to do. (Of course if your intention is to just do plugins for your own use, you could use anything you like.) NET framework and so on, so you are cut off from using various things that would allow you to do GUIs in easier ways for your plugins. Many Reaper users don't like big downloads, installers, the. There unfortunately is no easy way to do GUIs on Windows so that it would be nicely compatible to the way Reaper extensions are preferred to work by the end users. (They both use dialog resources.) You possibly might be able to do dialog boxes and things like that in some other way, but it is going to be even more complicated than with the dialog resources. This might be problematic if you want to do anything involving GUI, especially if you are trying to use the SWS extension or even the Reaper SDK example source codes as a starting point. ![]() It doesn't however allow editing (or perhaps even using at all) of so called resources. VS 2010 Express for C++ should mostly work, and is free of charge. Also, is there a specific version of MS Visual Studio I need? Can I get it for free?
